Stephen is the proud father of Olivia Grace Emerick (MA Degree in Forensic Psychology, Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Chicago, Illinois). Olivia is a specialist in Mental Health and working in a large psychiatric hospital in Chicago Illinois. Stephen enjoys sharing with Olivia in this field of common interest. Stephen has come to admire Olivia for her perseverance, her love of service and justice, and her humility. It was because of Olivia that Stephen was introduced to Peru. This was after Olivia had completed a number of months of volunteer service with Cross Cultural Solutions in Lima Peru. Stephen and Shawna went to Peru, met up with Olivia…then trekked the Andes, and also flew into the Amazon region for more exploring.
Stephen is married to the creative artist Deborah Lynn Emerick. Deborah was recently one of the feathered artists when her work was purchased and is now on display at Children’s Medical Center, Dayton Ohio! She was also commissioned by Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton Ohio. Her work is on permanent display in the Cardio-Thoracic Hospital Wing, Dayton Ohio.
Her creative art expressions include fabric arts; wearable art clothing; art dolls; painting; commissioned work, and the unique and creative art of just what you would not find any where else! Deborah is a nursing graduate of Ohio State University, and is also one of the finest nurses in the USA!
Stephen’s role model for change has been his father, Dr. Rev. Samuel Emerick. Sam was one of the original persons in the early stage and development of a Fund for Humanity, which eventually became Habitat for Humanity. Millard Fuller, who also founded Habitat, passed away in February 2009. When this organization was first formed, Samuel was elected its first Chairman of the Board. While Chairman, Stephen and his father traveled to Zaire, Africa (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) for Samuel Emerick’s consultation with Habitat projects in that country. Samuel crossed over January 13 of 2012. His legacy and that of those dreamers one and all….lives on in the hearths of homes around the world.
Stephen’s relationships with his brother’s Craig and John continues to deepen with the passing years. All three have a yearly gathering in the Hocking Hills at The Inn at Cedar Falls every October. Both their relationships with one another, and the beauty of the Hocking Hills, continues to inspire them in their lives as brothers.

He and his daughters trekked the Andes Mountains and climbed to Machu Pichu. This was followed by 5 days in an eco retreat in the Amazon. Stephen is a regular visitor to southeastern Ohio and the Hocking Hills area, where he does much of his nature poetry and Native American flute compositions.
Stephen is indebted to Award Winning Photographer Jim Crotty for the use of some of the enclosed images. Stephen met Jim at The Inn at Cedar Falls, and hasn’t been the same since. Jim is a masterful photographer and Image Maker of Nature! Thank you Jim!

My best wishes to you and Shawna for a successful and fulfilling workshop weekend at The Inn, Stephen. I was just there this past weekend to present my program on fall nature photography. I had a group of 16, all of whom enjoyed themselves and the photographic venues immensely. It truly is a sacred place, one which continues to call for my return, again and again.
